Although the hot weather continues, autumn is beginning to feel like it is here.
When you wake up in the morning and open the window, you can hear the sounds of insects announcing the arrival of autumn.
A grasshopper wandered into the lobby
The other day, a grasshopper wandered into the lobby of my apartment building.
I tried to grab it to put it back in the grass, but it kept jumping out of the gap between my hands and I couldn't grab it...lol. I surrounded it and it ran away, I surrounded it and it ran away...
Every time this happens, the children get excited, wanting to see their mother catch the grasshoppers, even though they are scared of them.
Soon the grasshopper landed in my hand, and the children's eyes lit up with delight. 😍 They stared at it closely, saying, "I wonder if it'll fly away... It won't fly away, will it...?"
It's about 3cm long and very small and cute.
After some research, I found out that they live until around November.
It was a lot smaller than I thought, and I was so touched by how cute it was! I hope it lives to the fullest.
We went to a nearby park and discussed with my daughters where to let it go.
"The birds will find us here, so I think the grass over there would be better."
It was also impressive to see my daughter talking from the grasshopper's perspective.
I was happy to see that they truly see these small creatures as "living lives."
The morning when the cicadas flipped over
At the end of summer, I found a cicada upside down on the concrete.
I thought, "Maybe its life is over..." but when I touched it, it was still moving around energetically and I was in a panic.
I want to help somehow, but I don't know what to do... It has a strong "bug" vibe and I'm a little scared...
But then I let him grab a nearby stone, and he clung to it nicely and flew away!
It's exactly like the saying goes, "Even a small insect has a soul."
That night, I told my husband about it.
"If a cicada falls among plants and flips over, it can grab onto branches and grass as it rolls around and regain its balance, but it can't get up on concrete by itself. So the 'rescue with a rock' plan was a great idea 👍️."
I was told that. I see, it was a new discovery for me💕
What we can learn from small lives
I'm not really fond of insects (lol), but when I learn about their little ingenious features and ecology, I somehow find myself loving them even more.
